Can Bearded Dragons Eat Lychees?

The lychee is a small round fruit from the tree which bears the same name. It has a flesh that is sweet and white in color. It has a large stone at its center and also has skin that is thin and rough in texture.

It comes from the soapberry family, Sapindaceae and is the sole member of the genus Litchi. It comes from the Guangdong and Fujian provinces of China, but is now cultivated all across the world.

So can bearded dragons eat lychees at all?

Lets take a look at their nutritional data and find out more.

In particular, their acidic, calcium, phosphorus, water, protein, fat, sugar, and fibre content is of most interest when it comes to bearded dragons.

Another thing of importance is the calcium:phosphorus ratio as for every part phosphorus, there needs to be another part calcium if not more. From 1:1 to 2:1 is ideal as far as bearded dragons are concerned.

As you can see Lychees contain a lot of acidic content, are very sweet and have a very disproportionate calcium:phosphorus ratio.

This means that unfortunately they are just too acidic and sweet for bearded dragons to eat. A food to avoid.
